Another good tomato year…so far

So far this year the tomato harvest has been really good and no sign of late blight yet despite the rain and wind which has dominated the weather since July. I’m growing the same varieties as last year, namely; Akron – my standby maincrop’ large tomato; San Marino – the best Italian plum tomato; Mountain Magic – a large and sweet cherry tomato and Marmande – the classic French slicing tomato. Yields have been good although the Akron plants have been very variable – some rather weak growing but one so vigorous and productive it brought down its support in the greenhouse with the weight…
